Lead Electrical Design Engineer ONSITE IN LOUISVILLE, KY (HYBRID & REMOTE FLEXIBILITY POSSIBLE) Job Description

As a Lead Electrical Design Engineer , you will direct, coordinate, and exercise functional authority for design, planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within your assignment. You will be responsible for reading and understanding written specifications and contract drawings, developing designs that meet these requirements within electrical design standards, and ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, company standards, and customer contract requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze engineering schematics, specifications, and related data and drawings to determine design factors.
  • Produce accurate and thoroughly self-verified electrical device and panel layouts, motor control, I/O schematics, and bill of materials.
  • Review designs for compliance with engineering specifications, company standards, and customer contract requirements.
  • Provide project support to field engineers, project managers, purchasing, and panel fabricators.
  • Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
  • Use computer-assisted design/drafting equipment and software to develop designs.
  • Communicate with the project team regarding task completion status.
  • Design and develop detailed layouts for electrical circuits, systems for power distribution, industrial control panels, and industrial network architectures.
  • Interface extensively with customers to provide installation and commissioning support and design modifications.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Experience in controls engineering and controls design.
  • Ability to design electrical circuits/systems, schematics, and panel layouts.
  • PLC programming experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety standards, UL508A, NEC, and NFPA.
  • Strong understanding of electrical equipment and local building codes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in a related area.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the field or a related area.
  • HMI graphics experience.
Work Environment

You will work in an office environment with a typical schedule of Monday to Friday, from either 8 AM to 5 PM or 7 AM to 4 PM. A hybrid or work-from-home schedule can be negotiated depending on living situation. Onsite presence is required full-time, and you will be responsible for training and mentoring junior designers. The role involves minimal travel, approximately 3-5% overall, for occasional site visits or design review meetings. While there is no standard relocation package, a sign-on bonus is available to accommodate relocation needs.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
