Waypoint's client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer II to join their growing team.
Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, applying use and application of standard engineering principles, theories, and concepts
Participating in the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical components, subsystems, and systems
Performing as a task lead on assignments of moderate scope
Performing routine design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical components, subsystems, and systems
Conducting routine analyses and/or tests pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, materials or processes, completing required documentation, and providing recommendations
Assisting in evaluating field installations and recommending design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions
Performing installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment
Performing environmental analysis to include Electromagnetic Interference/Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMI/EMC), vibration, mechanical shock, ingress protection, salt spray, sand and dust, and temperature and humidity
Assembling units, enclosures, or systems by reading, updating, or following mechanical drawings, industry methods, or assembly instructions
Performing extensive research and complex analysis on major projects to enhance the technical and economic development of the product and/or service
Assisting with the design and development of mechanical kit TDPs and TDPs for rackmount electronics equipment
The TDP shall include assembly details, overall dimensions and weight, mechanical and electrical interfaces, material types, list of components, assembly instructions, fabrication details, label plate details, power requirements, cooling requirements, and electrical schematics .
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and two or more (2+) years of work-related experience OR a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
Design
Development
Production
Test
Demonstrated experience performing environmental analysis to include one or more of the following:
Electromagnetic Interference/Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMI/EMC)
Static structural (Acceleration)
Dynamic structural (Vibration and Shock)
Ingress protection
Salt spray
Sand and dust
Temperature and humidity
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Desired:
Intermediate level of proficiency with one or more of the following:
Radar electronics
Hardware design
Principles and operations of radar systems
RF system/subsystem layout and design
RF subsystem assemblies and applications
Radar analysis and modernization
Modeling and simulation of physical systems
Demonstrated experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software such as Solid Works
Working knowledge of ASME Y14.100 drawing standards
