Electrical Design Engineer ( Contract )

Job Description

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will oversee the harness design effort for a larger laser system project known as 'KJC.' This role involves connecting cabinets to each other and to the main system in a symmetric manner, utilizing Altium for setting up and releasing drawings. You will work collaboratively with a team of designers to meet a challenging deadline, ensuring the completion of harness planning and design within a quick turnaround of three weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the harness design effort and ensure project completion.
  • Utilize Altium for setting up drawings and releasing them.
  • Collaborate with a team of designers to complete the design within a three-week deadline.
  • Plan and execute harness design, ensuring connectivity between cabinets and the main system.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in Altium or similar electrical design software such as OrCAD or Cadence.
  • Experience with wire harness drawing, electrical cabinets, and schematic design.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in the energy sector is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of configuration management, engineering design processes, and drafting standards.
  • Ability to run heavy CAD programs like SolidWorks.
  • Possession of personal equipment such as laptops capable of running Altium.
Work Environment

This position is fully remote for an initial duration of 8 weeks, with potential for extension. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking laser-driven inertial fusion projects aimed at providing cheap, abundant, and carbon-free energy. You will be part of a team working towards deploying fusion power plants quickly, funded by significant investments including support from the U.S. Department of Energy.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $70.00/hr.
