This job opportunity is located in New Kensington, PA at our Affival fabrication plant. The Manufacturing Engineer will report to the Director of Engineering. The Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the aiding of fabrication/design/install of large-scale steel mill projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design of large-scale projects from concept to install for the steel mill industry. Projects include but are not limited to wire feeding application and powder mineral transfer application.
- Design phase may require field measurements at customer site, as well as mechanical sizing of components.
- Calculation of weights, forces, reactions, stress analysis, system inertia, power requirements, bearing loading and life, and time studies as required.
- Ownership of drawing revision process throughout life cycle of product.
- Must be willing to aid in the install of project and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Aiding manufacturing team with the fabrication of projects as required.
- Must be willing to learn key skills from team members as the need arises.
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
- Minimum of 3 years’ related work experience. Preferably in the steel industry.
- Candidate must be proficient with using both 2-D and 3-D design software. Preferably AutoCAD and Solidworks.
- Experience with bulk material handling and/or heavy machinery is a plus but not required.
- Experience with process control systems including but not limited to PLC & electrical systems, navigating and interpretation of Ladder Logic & electrical schematics, MMI & computer interfacing is a plus but not required.
- Experience with industrial piping design including (P&ID) drawings and routing layouts is a plus but not required.
Location: New Kensington, PA. Must be willing to travel up to 30% of the time depending on active projects.
