What you can expect as a Repair Development Engineer at DAS Aviation:

This role is responsible for identifying, developing, and certifying repairs for aircraft components, structures, and systems under DAS/DER authorization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical or aerospace engineering, hands-on repair development experience, and in-depth knowledge of FAA/EASA regulations and compliance pathways.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and substantiate innovative repairs for aircraft components and systems in accordance with OEM, FAA, and EASA requirements.

  • Interface with FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs) and DAS Unit Members to develop FAA-approved repair data (8100-9, 8110-3, etc.).

  • Perform detailed damage assessments and root cause analyses of returned components.

  • Create technical repair documentation including engineering drawings, repair process instructions, and substantiation reports.

  • Conduct structural analysis using classical hand calculations and finite element methods (FEM).

  • Coordinate with shop floor personnel, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance teams to ensure successful repair implementation.

  • Liaise with customers and regulatory authorities as needed to support technical reviews and repair approvals.

  • Continuously improve repair processes to reduce costs, increase reliability, and meet turnaround time requirements.

  • Ensure all repair developments adhere to airworthiness and safety standards.

  • Support internal audits and regulatory reviews as a subject matter expert for developed repairs.

What youll need to bring with you:

Your Education

A High school diploma or equivalent. A valid drivers license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory. Aircraft specific factory training is preferred.

Your Experience

5+ years prior experience aircraft maintenance to include involvement in supervision of four or more team members. An advanced knowledge of FAA paperwork, work orders and use of Corridor systems.

Your Sense of Responsibility:

Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments.

Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.

Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.

Must perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.

Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.

Maintain customer-oriented work habits.

Direct the work and flow of multiple projects.

Supervision of team members in daily operations and duties.

Completion of work orders, FAA paperwork.

Other Particulars:

Physical Requirements

Lift at least 70 lbs.

Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.

Routing or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.

Personal computer operations on Apple and Microsoft products especially Outlook, Word, and Excel spreadsheets

Work on elevated platforms (up to 40 feet in the air) using fall protection safety gear

Mental Requirements

Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.

Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation.

Work with others in a professional manner.

Coordinate projects.

Team management skills.

Working Conditions

The majority of work will be accomplished in a hangar environment which can include very hot or very cold temperatures

Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.

Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.

Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.

Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices.

Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment.

Personal computer and work order prints.
