Design Engineer
Job Description

Support the R&D team in developing, validating, integrating, and launching electrical components and systems for new product development and customer requirements. This role focuses on designing and laying out electrical wiring for specialty trucks and vans in the shipping industry, such as box trucks used by companies like FedEx, UPS, Aramark, and food trucks.

Responsibilities

  • Confer with engineers, customers, suppliers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products.
  • Design, implement, maintain, test, and improve electrical wiring of vehicles.
  • Operate CAD software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Solve and troubleshoot electrical wiring and system issues in components and systems.
  • Assist in building a prototype of the intended vehicle for testing and approval.
Essential Skills
  • SolidWorks proficiency
  • Electrical engineering knowledge
  • Experience in electrical design
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in vehicle design (truck, van, bus, RV, auto, boat, etc.)
  • Bachelors degree in engineering or a two-year technical degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Proven ability to use 3D CAD software, with SolidWorks preferred
Work Environment

Join a small R&D team located in an office building in Wolcottville, IN. The R&D center focuses on creating new and advancing current manufacturing processes, with testing completed onsite. All manufacturing occurs at facilities in Sturgis, MI. Typical working hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with an average workweek of 40-45 hours. This position offers a great opportunity to transition from manufacturing to an R&D setting, allowing for more creativity and involvement in the design and product development process.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.50 - $45.00/hr.
