We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team on the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) program as a Senior Materials Engineer. In this role you will be working alongside design engineers, suppliers, quality, test, and manufacturing engineers to analyze and research materials and develop processes to tackle complex technical problems.
In this role you will:
Select Materials and Processes (M&P) on new designs
Perform technical engineering assignments
Troubleshoot problems and find innovative solutions
Participate in the selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of M&P
Prepare technical and progress reports on assigned tasks
Prepare specifications, evaluate suppliers and analyze test reports
Coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement
We're looking for:
Self-motivated individual with a proven track record of resolving complex technical problems
Strong team player with experience working in a geographically diverse team
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities and multiple projects
Someone comfortable with communicating in a variety of forums
The ability to work with management and program representatives at several levels
This position requires a DoD security clearance. You must be a US Citizen for consideration. Skill Requirements:
Background in materials science, mechanical engineering, chemistry, or physics.
Experience authoring and/or implementing technical requirements (materials and process specifications, program plans/requirements, etc.).
Security Clearance / Work Authorization:
To meet requirements of the program/customer, this position requires the selected employee to be a U.S. Citizen.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance Prior aerospace engineering experience.
Experience in metallic material properties, processing, and characterization.
Experience in composite material properties, processing, and characterization.
Knowledge of environmental and operational requirements for materials in missile applications (such as flammability, dissimilar metals, stress corrosion, etc.).
Familiar with non-conformance and failure analysis disposition.
Good writing and verbal communication skills.
Candidate must be capable of performing in a fast-paced, dynamic and team environment.
Active or Current DoD Secret security clearance.
