Traffic Engineer

We are seeking a transportation engineer with 2-5 years of experience to support projects for the Maryland State Highway Administration. This role involves conducting preliminary and final engineering and design reviews, preparing engineering-related calculations, developing drawings, plans, and visual aids, and reviewing and developing cost estimates. The candidate will also be responsible for preparing technical reports and memos, working on zone and traffic control plan sets, and conducting office research, fieldwork, data collection, and data analysis. Proficiency in MicroStation is required as a base level of software knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct preliminary and final engineering and design reviews.
• Prepare and review engineering-related calculations.
• Develop drawings, plans, and visual aids.
• Review and develop cost estimates.
• Prepare and review technical reports and memos.
• Work on zone and traffic control plan sets.
• Conduct office research, fieldwork, data collection, and data analysis.

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on transportation, highway engineering, or traffic engineering.
• 2-5 years of experience in transportation engineering.
• Proficiency in MicroStation.
• Significant work zone experience.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (P.T.O.E.) preferred, Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) at minimum.
• Experience in civil engineering, traffic engineering, design, traffic studies, and roadway design.

• Experience with temporary signal work, signage, and Maintenance of Traffic (MOTs).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, and ProjectWise.

This position offers a hybrid schedule and requires candidates to work from the Maryland State Highway Administration office in Hanover. There is potential for candidates to work from the office in Hunt Valley. Occasional fieldwork for data collection is required, along with attending evening and weekend meetings. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $83200.00 - $133120.00/yr.
