Energy / Utility Project Engineer
Location: On-site in Irvine, CA
Level: Mechanical Engineer Level 2
Pay rate: $44/hr - $46/hr
Relocation: Open (at candidate’s own expense)
Travel: Minimal (possible factory acceptance visits only)

Role Overview
Seeking a hands-on engineer with technical field expertise in major utility systems to lead and implement energy efficiency projects. Not a desk-only role, this individual will be expected to develop, manage, and execute energy strategies across plant utilities.

Key Responsibilities
Assess energy usage and utility systems in a central utility plant
Lead and manage on-site energy projects (e.g., economizer installations)
Oversee and coordinate with contractors and vendors
Contribute to carbon reduction and green initiatives where applicable
Report progress and energy savings outcomes

Must-Have Qualifications
5–7 years of utility system engineering experience
(3–4 years may be considered for strong candidates)

Direct experience with:
Chiller plants
Cooling towers
Boilers
Compressed air systems
HVAC systems

Education :
Bachelor's or Master's in Engineering (either acceptable)
Ability to lead projects end-to-end in a technical field setting

Preferred (Nice-to-Haves)
Experience in energy management or sustainability
Familiarity with ISO 50001 or similar standards
Exposure to carbon footprint reduction programs
Background in manufacturing utilities (may be considered)

What This Is Not
Not a purely desk-based energy analyst role
Not suitable for overly senior candidates (e.g., Principal Engineers or 12+ years of experience)
