POSITION OVERVIEW
The Product Design Engineer I at Gentex is an entry-level role focused on developing core engineering skills and contributing to team projects, laying the groundwork for technical expertise and collaborative engineering efforts within the company. This role is integral to the continuous growth of our engineering capabilities and aligns individual development with Gentex's strategic objectives.
Location : This position requires on-site work at Gentex facilities. This role is not eligible for remote work.
WHAT YOULL DO
- Assist in the design and development of mechanical components.
- Apply existing customer and Gentex specifications in the design and testing of products.
- Actively engage with validation engineering and the validation lab through the product testing lifecycle.
- Recommend/propose changes to current and future designs based on product design verification testing.
- Support and follow the TS16949 procedure manual formats.
- Support advanced engineering projects.
- Support Gentex patent protection.
- Support competitive benchmark testing.
- Other duties as assigned.

WHAT TO BRING
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Proven ability to apply format engineering principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
WHAT WILL HELP
- Prior experience in the automotive or aerospace industries, providing a unique perspective on high-standard engineering practices and product development cycles.
- Knowledge of test methods.
- Knowledge of 3D computer aided design software.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and feasibility, as well as an understanding of automotive design requirements and practices.
