Electrical Design Engineer

We are currently seeking a "Sr Electrical Engineer - Transit" for a contract role based out in Calgary, AB/Hybrid . Please apply if you would be interested and available for it.

Duration: 06+ Months (Contract-to-Hire)

Major Responsibilities:
Developing various types of reports including schematic design, design development, building assessment, and design build/assist scope of work documents
Preparing electrical drawings and specifications
Implement design concept through the preparation and production of drawings to detail lighting, power, fire alarm, and specialty low voltage systems rough-ins (i.e. telecom., intrusion control, security, CCTV, door access controls, etc.)
Providing technical and administrative support through all phases of the project
Conduct necessary research to gather industry, field, and project specific data
Ensuring design conforms with all applicable codes and standards.
Working with prime consultants, engineering consultants, and contractors; responding to technical queries
Construction administration responsibilities:
Attending site meetings and site reviews complete with reports
Shop drawing reviews
SI and CCN preparations.
Contractors change quotation reviews
Progress billing reviews
Fire alarm verification report reviews

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
Experience in the engineering consulting industry in a building engineering group
Holding or the ability to obtain Secret Level security clearance

Preferred Requirements:
Prefer an individual with extensive electrical design experience on transportation-related buildings and facilities such as subway stations.
Experience with Electrical load calculations, lighting design and analysis a plus
Familiarity with OESC, OBC, IEEE, NFPA, and other industry standards and codes
Experience in designing electrical power and lighting systems
Knowledge with power analysis tools such as SKM and/or ETAP
Proficient in the use of computers for making engineering calculations, spreadsheets, and report writing
Valid driver's license
Additional certifications such as LEED, LC, CEM, RCDD etc. are a bonus
Communications system design experience is a plus
Experience with IES energy modeling tool is desirable
Some Project Management experience and training desired
Travel to nearby cities may be required.
