Description

Actalent is currently hiring multiple Mechanical Design Engineers for an Automation Solutions provider in the Greater Columbus Area. This company provides custom automation, repeat automation and a variety of automation products for the following industries: life sciences, food & beverage, transportation, consumer products, and energy. The Automation Solutions provider has had a large influx of projects with their current clients and these Mechanical Design Engineer positions will be supporting the projects. Initially these positions will be slotted as 3 month contract positions but there is a high probability of each individual to have their contract extended or even go on permanent with the client since they are forecasted to have a tremendous year of growth. This position does not allow remote work. Basic Overview: Develop concepts and well-engineered mechanical designs for mechanisms used in automated assembly systems. Use SolidWorks to produce layout, assembly level and detail drawings, bills of materials and specifications. Work with other project team members to meet or exceed the Customers expectations regarding function, quality and schedule and extend effort and commitment to meet schedules. Responsibilities:Participate in design schedule development, review, and post project review meetings. Coordinate with other project team members to accomplish consistency in designs meeting the project goals as defined by the Lead Mechanical Designer, Mechanical Project Engineer, and the Project Manager. Analyze engineering sketches, specifications and related data and drawings to determine shape, dimensions, tolerances, type, hardness and machining properties of metal, and other design factors in the development of industrial manufacturing equipment, processes and products. Develop, recommend, and apply sound construction concepts to achieve design for cost-effective manufacturability, field interchangeability, tolerance management, maintainability, and functionality.Recognize and develop prototypes of high-risk mechanisms. Produce assembly drawings and detail drawings to meet project schedule, and keep designs simple and cost-effective using existing company designs and commercially available items wherever practical. Update and revise drawings as required to meet functional requirements. Review vendor capability and advance order long lead-time material. Generate adjustment procedures and spare parts list for each mechanism as needed. Provide technical support to manufacturing and assembly during the build phase. Maintain proficiency with all industry and ATS standards, methods, and practices.Maintain proficiency with all software and computer techniques regularly used in mechanical design.Keep abreast of leading-edge technology. Keep informed of new products & mechanical design construction techniques.Assist with standardization of components and mechanisms.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Must have a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or an Engineering discipline . OR having a high-level of experience can compensate for the absence of a 4-yr degree.- 2-6 years of automation experience - must have at least 2 years of Automation mechanical Design experience - 3d design within Solidworks - Must have prior experience within automated equipment, turn-key equipment, or strong mechanical design

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $48.00/hr.
