- Develop water-based fire protection product or system concepts and detailed designs.
- Generate and test prototypes to international standards.
- Conduct detailed studies to support design decisions and maintain records of the design process.
- Analyze product and equipment specifications to determine initial design direction.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of manufacturing operations to assess design manufacturability.
- Conduct feasibility, cost, optimization, stress, fluid, and thermal analyses.
- Provide technical information on manufacturing processes, materials, and engineering planning.
- Stay informed about the latest technology developments to identify opportunities for improvements and cost reductions.
- Collaborate with research personnel and other technical functions to resolve problems and develop designs.
- Ensure compliance with industry and specific agency approval requirements in designs.
- Prepare design layouts, detailed drawings, and specifications.
- Coordinate prototype efforts and analyze operational, test, and research data.
- Plan, develop, and coordinate experimental test programs.
- Organize and lead meetings as needed.
- Prepare and present reports and presentations.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
- Experience with industry standards and codes, such as NFPA, UL, and FM.
- Strong knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and material science.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and engineering analysis tools.
