Job Description:
HRU Technical Resources has partnered with an organization that specializes in developing advanced testing solutions that ensure mission-critical systems perform reliably under the most demanding conditions. From concept to commissioning, we combine engineering expertise with innovative technology to deliver systems for automotive, aerospace, and defense applications. We are seeking a Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer with 5 to 8 years of professional experience to join our team in Saginaw, Michigan. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and development of large-scale machinery used in military dynamometer (dyno) systems. The ideal candidate will be skilled in Autodesk Inventor, have a proven background in machine design, and possess strong problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop large mechanical systems and assemblies for military dynamometer applications using Autodesk Inventor.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, controls engineers, and project managers, to deliver complete system solutions.
- Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models, assembly drawings, and part drawings in compliance with engineering standards.
- Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and material selection to ensure product performance and reliability.
- Participate in design reviews, provide technical input, and implement improvements to existing designs.
- Support the build, testing, and commissioning phases of machinery, including troubleshooting design-related issues.
- Ensure designs meet applicable military, safety, and environmental standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 5 to 8 years of professional mechanical engineering experience, with a focus on machine design.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and familiarity with PDM systems.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturability.
- Experience with large machinery or heavy equipment design.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the design of military or defense-related equipment.
- Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) and simulation tools.
- Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Hands-on experience in prototype assembly and testing.
Work Environment / Other Info:
- This is a standard 1st (day) shift role. Standard hours, generally Monday to Friday.
- Travel as required to support projects (travel will not be extensive).
- There may be occasional (rare) overtime. Any OT would be compensated at 1.5x the regular hourly rate.
