Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Sr Principal Mechanical Engineer join our team in Palmdale, CA . This position will be within our Vehicle Engineering Organization. The candidate should be a self-starter with familiarity working in an Integrated Product Team construct.

Roles and Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers to disposition effective technical solutions that are innovative, practical, and consistent with organizational objectives.

  • Address non-conformances on metallic and composite parts, and assemblies.

  • Assess, disposition, and buy off non-conformances.

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Masters degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 4 years of related engineering experience.

  • Experience with CATIA V5, NX, Visualization Pro, TeamCenter, MES, or other CAD programs

  • Experience with the manufacture and repair of composite structures

  • Experience with the conceptual operation, and troubleshooting of, typical aircraft subsystems

  • Active in-Scope, DoD Top Secret clearance.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs. (Of note: SAP/PAR will be upgraded once selected candidate is in role. Therefore, candidate must also be able to obtain and maintain upgraded SAP/PAR.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current applicable SAP/SAR access

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering

  • Experience working in an aircraft manufacturing facility

  • Experience interfacing with a military customer

  • Experience working hands-on in a production assembly line environment

  • Experience with aircraft structures design

  • Experience with aircraft subsystem design

  • Previous MRB/LE Authority for Engineering

Primary Level Salary Range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
