Responsibilities:
The New York City Transit Authority (NYCT) seeks an experienced manager for the Facilities Station Programs department to oversee the management and execution of station capital projects, including design document review and coordination. This role ensures projects are completed on time, adhere to phasing plans, and meet quality standards. The Manager will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including Construction & Development (C&D), Station Operations, Facilities Maintenance, and Operations Planning. Responsibilities include overseeing multiple capital projects simultaneously, adhering to timelines and quality standards, and minimizing impact on customer flow and service. The Manager will organize regular site visits and inspections to verify project progress and compliance with safety and operational standards; guide project leads in managing projects from initiation to closeout; maintain comprehensive project records; and prepare and submit regular updates to upper management. Additionally, the role involves adhering to NYCT safety regulations, supporting staff in maintaining accurate and timely documentation and updating project status in Microsoft Teams and Microsoft LIST. The Manager will lead and mentor a team of project leads and support staff, keeping them informed of project requirements, timelines, and any changes to plans while fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. The position requires facilitating communication for the construction team through the Facilities Station Programs project leads, ensuring coordination and adherence to department guidelines, and encouraging timely, accurate communication with stakeholders. Finally, the Manager will proactively identify potential project risks, develop mitigation strategies, address issues and conflicts to minimize disruption to station operations and ensure timely resolution of design and construction related queries and requests for information (RFI).
Education and Experience:
A bachelor's degree in Transportation, Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university; and seven (7) years of full-time, paid professional experience, including at least three (3) years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
A satisfactory equivalent of education and experience is required
Desired Skills:
Proven experience in reading and interpreting construction drawings, with a solid understanding of construction methodologies and familiarity with NYCT policies and procedures.
Proven ability to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously and adherence to quality standards.
Proactively identify potential project risks, develop effective mitigation strategies, and resolve issues promptly to minimize disruption.
Experience leading and mentoring a diverse team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively manage teams.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey project requirements, timelines, and updates to team members and stakeholders.
Proficiency in software tools such as Microsoft Access, Excel, and Project, as well as collaboration platforms including Microsoft Teams, EAM, and Monday.
