SUMMARY
Responsible for creating and maintaining detailed 2D and 3D design drawings to support efficient plant layout and component design. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, revise, and validate parts. Ensures compliance with safety and quality standards, maintains organized digital design files, and supports troubleshooting and prototyping efforts on the production floor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is not all-inclusive and may include other duties, as necessary.
- Develop and maintain detailed plant layout drawings to optimize space utilization and workflow efficiency.
- Create 2D and 3D design drawings for new components, assemblies, and tooling.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, maintenance, machine shop, and engineering teams to design custom parts and fixtures.
- Prepare detailed drawings and specifications for parts to be manufactured in-house or by external vendors.
- Design and model 3D printed components (polymer/resin-based), ensuring accuracy and functionality.
- Revise and update existing drawings based on engineering changes and production feedback.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant safety, manufacturing, and quality standards.
- Support prototyping and testing new designs to validate performance and manufacturability.
- Maintain organized design files and drawing revision control by the company procedures.
- Assist in troubleshooting design-related issues on the production floor.
- Ensure all the plant drawings, part drawings are archived digitally.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and assembly design using parametric modeling techniques.
- Strong skills in AutoCAD or similar 2D drafting software.
- Experience with 3D printing design and basics of additive manufacturing principles.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Knowledge of correct tolerances for fit/form/function.
- Understanding manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, and tooling.
- Ability to interpret and create technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Ability to use measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, bore micrometers, and vernier scales.
- Basic understanding of material selection for both metal and plastic parts.
- Familiarity with PDM (Product Data Management) systems for file control.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in design documentation.
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with plant layout planning software.
- Knowledge of simulation tools for stress, thermal, or motion analysis.
- Background in lean manufacturing or process improvement.
- Basic understanding of electrical or pneumatic system layouts.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A BS in Mechanical Engineering degree is required, along with a minimum of 2-3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
