Electrical Engineer Job Description An exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer is available in South Florida. The role involves supporting electrical design for municipal water and wastewater system-related projects. Responsibilities Serve as the Designer/Project Engineer on projects involving medium and low voltage power distribution systems, lighting systems, and grounding systems for municipal water and wastewater facilities and industrial projects. Develop design details for electrical power distribution systems (480V level), lighting systems, and control systems for major industrial facilities using recognized industry standards and specifications. Perform system calculations and studies for electrical power systems, load flows, voltage drops, short circuit/coordination studies using electrical analytical software such as E-Tap and SKM Tools. Coordinate with CAD Drafters to create new or modify existing drawings. Conduct field investigations and condition assessments of electrical power distribution and control equipment. Essential Skills Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) 4+ years of design and engineering experience in building, including electrical power distribution on industrial or complex commercial projects. Proficiency in electrical design and control equipment condition assessment. Experience with medium and low voltage systems, lighting, grounding, municipal projects, load flow, voltage drop, and short circuits. Familiarity with E-Tap, SKM Tools, and power distribution control systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with industrial or large complex commercial projects is preferred. Water/Wastewater experience is a plus. Working knowledge of standards and codes related to electrical distribution and control systems. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and Excel. Preliminary knowledge of instrumentation devices (level/pressure/temp/flow) is preferred. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with supervisors, colleagues, and clients. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Work Environment The work environment is casual and informal, encouraging autonomy while providing necessary support. The company values stability and has not laid off employees during economic downturns. The Ft. Lauderdale office requires attendance at least three days a week, with flexibility for hybrid work. Employees may need to attend meetings in the Tri-County area about 1-2 times per month. The company operates with a team of over 50 people, with offices in Detroit, Indianapolis, Cleveland, and South Florida. The Ft. Lauderdale office currently has six employees.
