Raytheon in Goleta, CA is seeking a Principal Project Engineer to oversee a portfolio of projects supporting Capital acquisition within Operations at Raytheon Vision Systems (RVS). RVS is a leader in the design and manufacture of infrared and visible focal plane arrays and camera products, delivering for over forty years with a range of EO solutions and customers.

In this position you will lead cross-functional teams and work simultaneously on multiple projects. The focus of the role will be in managing the life cycle Capital procurement, from developing multi-year strategies, to market surveys, to equipment down select and vendor selection, to purchase, installation, and through qualification and release to production. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a complex environment across several disciplines, while keeping projects on schedule, without sacrificing safety, quality, or cost.

What You Will Do

  • Coordinate Capital purchases to support the manufacture of Infrared Focal Plane Arrays (IRFPAs) and Integrated Dewar Camera Assemblies.
  • Establish and manage budgets, including working with Operations Strategy in maintaining an Annual Operating Plan as well as a Long-Range Plan for Capital procurement.
  • Work with EHS, Industrial Engineering, Equipment Engineering and Facilities Engineering to ensure a compliant and appropriate installation plan is developed.
  • Coordinate purchase, installation, and release production of process equipment.
  • Establish a project integrated master schedule and participate in program integrated product teams to ensure the projects are on time and on schedule to meet the business needs.
  • Collaborate across business units to align operational goals, advocate for program priorities, and secure the resources necessary to meet both short- and long-term factory needs.
  • Provide an industrial engineering perspective with specific understanding of semiconductor cleanroom environments to optimize manufacturing performance and guide continuous improvement.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a STEM-related degree and a minimum of 8 years relevant experience. Or an advanced degree and 5 years of relevant experience .
  • Experience in Program, Project, procurement and/or cost management .

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Demonstrated Project Leadership and cost account (budget) responsibilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles and methodologies; proficiency in relevant software.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor equipment and equipment marketplace and knowledge of process and materials used in the manufacture of IRFPAs and IDCAs.
  • Knowledge of cleanroom systems and principles of operation.
  • Computer and data literacy including experience with MS Office, JMP, database development, MES and asset management software and data visualization tools.
  • Industry experience in managing capital projects within semiconductor or related industries is highly valued.
  • Earned Value Management System certification.

The salary range for this role is 112,000 USD - 224,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
