Electro-Mechanical DesignerLocation: Yorkville, ILEmployment Type: 1-2 Year Contract (Onsite, 5 days/week)Compensation & Benefits:Pay Rate: $45-$55/hourFull benefits package availableProject Engineer - Mechanical Design & Plant LayoutsWe are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team and provide engineering support across plant operations, process improvements, and capital projects. This role will be hands-on with design, layout, and documentation while ensuring compliance with plant standards and delivering innovative solutions for production and safety.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and update plant and process layouts.Perform machine design, reverse engineering of parts, and create detailed fabrication drawings.Manage and maintain the PDM Vault:Archive obsolete files, incorporate vendor drawings, and update plant layouts.Ensure compliance with plant documentation standards.Provide drawings/documents to vendors and internal teams.Produce complex technical documentation including P&IDs, process flow diagrams, 3D models, pipe routing drawings, and schematicsSupport the R D team throughout product development (prototype to production), using techniques such as 3D printing, molding, injection molding, and steel fabrication.Contribute to capital projects by creating 3D models, dimensional drawings, layouts, installation documents, and as-built drawings from field data.Reverse engineer equipment components for cost savings and refurbishment.Support the safety team by developing traffic, emergency, and evacuation layouts.Design mechanical components and assemblies (platforms, carts, guards, catwalks, etc.) to improve efficiency, safety, and reliability.Lead process improvement initiatives with practical mechanical design solutions.Modify new and existing equipment to align with local plant standards.Scope of Work PDM Vault setup and check current drawings into the vault.Convert facility drawings into 3D SolidWorks models.Provide ongoing site support for plant operations and engineering projects.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.10+ years of experience in mechanical design, plant layouts, and equipment engineering.Strong proficiency with SolidWorks, PDM Vault, and plant/process documentation.Experience creating and maintaining P&IDs, 3D models, and fabrication drawings.Hands-on experience with reverse engineering, machine design, and plant support projects.Preferred: Experience in food, pharmaceutical, or medical device industries.
