As an Engineering Technician at AGCO, you'll support the engineering department by assisting with the manufacturing, testing, and maintenance of agricultural equipment. Your responsibilities include performing hands-on technical tasks such as fabrication and assembly. You will collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot issues and improve product performance.

Your Impact

  • You will be responsible for the programming, setup, and hands-on manufacturing of new prototype parts using various manufacturing equipment. This includes determining the best manufacturing methods and procedures from blueprints, models, and diagrams.

  • The role involves working closely with Design Engineering to troubleshoot mechanical parts and assemblies, focusing on their manufacturability. You will also collaborate with design engineers, build technicians, suppliers, and the program team to develop high-quality products.

  • You are required to perform detailed inspections of the prototype parts you produce to ensure they meet project requirements and quality standards.

  • You will assist engineers and technicians with the qualification and validation of new or revised parts or tooling and provide your expertise to ensure successful project outcomes.

  • The position demands an in-depth understanding of computer applications related to manufacturing and the ability to apply this knowledge to create a world-class product.

Your Experience and Qualifications

  • Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, with a post-secondary technical degree or significant relevant experience being preferred. A minimum of three years of experience in a manufacturing or proto shop environment is required. Experience with agricultural equipment operation and maintenance, as well as product testing, is a plus.

  • You must demonstrate proficiency with basic shop measurement tools and be able to pass a written and hands-on skills assessment. The role requires a rating of at least 3 out of 5 for 8 of the 14 specified skills (Laser/Plasma, Brake, Shop Order Program, Lathe, Mill, Programing, Welding, Material Handling, SAP, Assembly, Cad/Creo, Leadership, Hand Tools, Torch), and a rating of at least 4 out of 5 for three of those skills. You should also be proficient in multiple manufacturing areas like welding, machining, or assembly.

  • You must have basic software skills for data management and reporting, be comfortable in a CAM environment, and be willing to learn 3D modeling. Experience with CAD (specifically Pro-E or similar 3-D systems) and CNC programming is a plus, as is SAP knowledge.

  • Good verbal communication skills are essential. You must be a willing worker in a team-based environment and possess a commitment to high-quality work in all tasks.

  • You must have the math skills necessary to perform basic shop and machining calculations.
