The Modeling and Analysis Department is seeking a motivated team member to perform the engineering functions of the Distribution Advanced Distribution Studies group, especially as the complexity of system studies grows with the integration of EVs, DERs, and evolving planning criteria.
Candidates with experience in Distribution Engineering, Transmission functions, Station Engineering, or utility operations are encouraged to apply. Knowledge of the CYME software is a key function of this team. Reliability / Overcurrent protection skills are a plus. Familiarity with programming or databases (such as Python, SQL/Oracle and/or SAS) is also strongly desired, though candidates without these skills are still encouraged to apply.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading efforts to enhance and automate system analysis capabilities.
- Supporting distribution engineering CYME model creation.
- Supporting and enhancing key internal software tools including as CYME, DGP, and CSII.
- Developing training materials to ensure consistency and scalability across business units.
- Supporting the creation of and generating results for Distribution Hosting Capacity Maps.
- Support the analysis, methodology, and study of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs).
- Collaborating with Distribution/Transmission Planning, DER interconnection, Operating Company, OpCo and Operations Engineering, IRP, and Economic Forecasting teams.
- Improving planning criteria, load forecasting methodologies, and project prioritization processes.
- Technical Expertise: Possesses entry-level knowledge and experience in the application of theory to solve well-defined problems or provide analysis, with guidance from higher-level engineers. Assists higher-level engineers in handling well-defined portions of more complex problems and analyses.Exhibits fundamental understanding of standards, codes and regulations relevant to the area of assignment. Gains familiarity with standards, codes and regulations relevant to the area of assignment. Gains familiarity with pertinent equipment, materials, systems and business processes.
- Leadership & Guidance: Coordinates work activities of others as required to resolve routine engineering tasks. Demonstrates working knowledge of appropriate policies and procedures; however, activities are generally monitored by higher-level employees to ensure work is performed in accordance with established guidelines. Performs work activities as assigned and coached by higher-level employees. Demonstrates ability to work with others in both supplying information and seeking assistance as necessary. Demonstrates willingness and capabilities to assume leadership roles.
- Planning & Organization Ability: Provides input to routine project planning documents related to scheduling and understands the use of scheduling techniques (CPM, PERT, flow charts, etc.) for budget and planning activities. Monitors project status and recommends action accordingly. Prepares cost estimates using established standards. Develops understanding of the workflow for routine engineering projects. Accomplishes work according to plans and schedules established by higher-level employees.
- Problem Solving & Initiative: Actively seeks out information and understanding of engineering problems and solution techniques applicable to area of responsibility. Applies basic techniques to perform analysis associated with the resolution of routine technical problems. Uses initiative in looking for opportunities and presenting new ideas and new approaches.
- Communication: Assists and participates in the preparation of reports and technical papers. Assimilates information and instructions readily. Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing and presents ideas clearly. Listens to and understands instructions, and requests clarification as required.

- Has typically acquired a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET* along with two or more years of related engineering experience or completion of a qualified student co-op/internship program.
- Individuals with a Master's degree in engineering from an engineering program accredited by ABET* may be considered for entry into the organization at this level.
- *ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
Acceptable alternative is:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program.
Engineer SG7
- Has typically acquired 4 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*
- Or 2 years of related engineering experience along with a Masters degree in engineering from a program accredited by ABET* .
- Individuals with a PhD in engineering from an engineering program accredited by ABET* may be considered for entry into the organization at this level.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is encouraged and preferred.*ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
Acceptable alternative is:
- Bachelors degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Masters degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelors program.
- ** Confirmation is required to ensure the PE obtained in Puerto Rico aligns with NCEES standards.
Engineer Senior SG8
- Has typically acquired 6 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*
- Or 4 years of related engineering experience along with a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a program accredited by ABET*
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is encouraged and preferred.*ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
Acceptable alternative is:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program.
- ** Confirmation is required to ensure the PE obtained in Puerto Rico aligns with NCEES standards.
**VP or above may waive the requirement for a degree from a university with an Non ABET accredited program
