JOB SUMMARY

The Engineering Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing client communication, cross-site coordination, and ensuring all business and technical deliverables are completed on time and to quality standards across multiple offices. This role provides leadership guidance to site leads, supports performance evaluations, incorporates client feedback for continuous improvement, and drives operational alignment. In addition, the manager will provide hands-on technical support as needed to ensure delivery success and client satisfaction.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership / Operational Oversight Responsibilities (90%)

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the client and internal teams, ensuring clear, consistent, and proactive communication regarding project status, risks, priorities, and deliverables.
  • Facilitate effective communication across all supported offices to ensure alignment on objectives, timelines, staffing, and execution strategy.
  • Support oversight of production and technical execution across multiple facilities to ensure deliverables are completed on schedule, within scope, and to the required quality standards.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and project milestones to proactively identify risks, delays, or resource constraints impacting business outcomes.
  • Work closely with site leads to identify process inefficiencies, operational gaps, and improvement opportunities impacting productivity and delivery performance.
  • Coordinate engineering and operational priorities across all supported facilities to ensure consistent execution standards and unified direction.
  • Ensure all client-facing deliverables meet contractual requirements, quality expectations, and internal standards prior to release.
  • Provide leadership guidance and coaching to site leads and managers to drive accountability, professionalism, and high-performance team culture.
  • Partner with local leadership to conduct annual performance evaluations and provide structured, actionable feedback for employees across each office.
  • Gather and communicate client feedback to site leadership and teams, developing improvement plans where needed to enhance performance and client satisfaction.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives across offices, ensuring lessons learned and best practices are shared and implemented consistently.
  • Act as an escalation point for performance, delivery, or client-related concerns, ensuring timely resolution and alignment across all stakeholders.

Technical Responsibilities (10%) – DESIGN ENGINEERING TRACK

  • Designing of aero-structural components using CATIA V5
  • Design, validation, manufacture, and delivery of aircraft fuselage and propulsion structure components
  • Areas of expertise may include primary and secondary structure design
  • Collaborate with stakeholders – present reviews and gate checks – Preliminary, Intermediate, and Critical Design Reviews
  • Ensure to meet the agreed schedule with the customer and their suppliers by releasing the parts
  • Support project manager with tracking and coordination of the projects
  • Customer specification interpretation
  • Communication with all teams (engineering, tooling, production, quality) to assure the product is completed correctly and on schedule to the customer

Technical Responsibilities – STRESS ENGINEERING TRACK

  • Perform static, fatigue and dynamic stress analysis for aero structures
  • Use of classical hand calculation approach to analyze both primary and secondary structures
  • Experience in both metallic and composite structures/components
  • Provide technical solutions from conceptual to detailed design stage

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of aerospace engineering experience in Design Engineering and/or Stress Engineering
  • Prior engineering technical leadership experience (Engineering Lead/Supervisor/Manager) preferred

Skills/Specialized Knowledge/Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver technical engineering work products under production-driven schedules
  • Strong understanding of aerospace structures and manufacturing/production support environments
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple facilities and stakeholders to drive alignment and execution
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to provide performance feedback and support employee development across multiple sites
  • Preferred: Boeing program or Boeing facility support experience
  • Preferred: Experience supporting shop floor production, quality, tooling, and manufacturing teams
  • Preferred: Experience in MRB/SRM environments
  • Preferred: Familiarity with engineering release processes and customer specifications

Tools and Equipment Used

  • Computer workstation, typical office equipment
  • Engineering software/tools as required for Design or Stress Engineering responsibilities

Travel

  • Travel required as needed to support additional facilities (Wichita, KS; Kinston, NC; and other locations as required)

Physical & Mental Demands

  • Frequently required to sit at a desk/workstation for long periods of time
  • Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in operation of office equipment
  • Ability to effectively communicate to employees/clients via phone, computer, or in person
  • Moderate lifting and carrying of supplies, equipment, files, etc.
  • Body motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move around the office environment
  • Ability to analyze unique situations, prioritize effectively, and develop appropriate response
  • Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple sites and programs

Environment

  • Work typically performed in an office and/or production support environment
