Senior Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer

A well-established & rapidly growing engineering organization in the local area is actively seeking to add a Senior Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer to the group. This individual will play a key role in leading the design and coordination of complex building systems while supporting project delivery from concept through construction.
The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with a proven background in MEP consulting, capable of serving as a technical leader, mentoring junior staff, and acting as an Engineer of Record on projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior-level engineer to take on a leadership role in high-impact healthcare projects, while contributing to the growth of a respected engineering team and mentoring the next generation of engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead plumbing and fire protection design across governmental, healthcare facilities (hospitals, outpatient clinics, impatient & outpatient care centers, and critical facility focused projects
- Produce drawings and specifications in compliance with applicable codes and firm standards
- Perform engineering calculations, life cycle cost analysis, and equipment selection
- Prepare construction documents, drawings, and project-specific specifications
- Conduct field investigations, site visits, and construction inspections
- Review RFIs, submittals, and support construction administration activities
- Ensure designs meet project schedules, budgets, and quality standards
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project stakeholders
- Serve as Engineer of Record on assigned projects
- Mentor and support junior engineers and design staff
- Participate in client meetings and present technical solutions
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes and standards, including: (NFPA, ASHRAE, IBC)
- Support sustainable design initiatives and energy-efficient system solutions
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from accredited college or university in Fire Protection, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering discipline
- Eight (8) or more years of experience in MEP consulting engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required
- Demonstrated experience with healthcare facility design
- Strong understanding of plumbing and fire protection systems design
- Proficiency with: Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of ICC, NFPA and Local codes and standards
- HVAC and analysis tools such as Trane Trace 3D and TOPSS
- High level of competency in computer-aided design and modeling tools
- Active PE License (licensed in at least one U.S. state)
- NCEES Registration a plus
- Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD) a plus
- LEED, Green Globes, or similar sustainability certifications preferred
- Opportunity to work on complex healthcare and institutional projects
