Staff Civil Designer Location: Dallas, TX 75240 Contract length: 6-month Contract-to-Hire Pay: $47/hr - $51/hr Staff Civil Designer Qualifications Bachelor Degree in drafting technology or related field and 7 years related experience Required or Associate Degree and 8 years related experience Required or 9 years progressive detailing and design experience. Required Expert understanding of design software such as: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Excel to develop the design deliverables Expert knowledge in design, calculations and design systems Expert knowledge in the theory and practices of civil discipline; competent in the fundamental concepts of other disciplines as they relate to the assigned discipline; and capable of operating related discipline design software necessary to execute production tasks Ability to work collaboratively with others (Project Managers, Engineers and Designers) in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives Excellent written & verbal communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail Staff Civil Designer Description Develop, produce, and modify detailed design drawings and construction documents using OpenRoads Designer (ORD), OpenBridge Designer (OBM) and Civil 3D. Interpret engineering sketches, markups, and design concepts to independently generate complete and accurate drawing packages. Prepare and revise plan sets, profiles, details, and plot drawings for design submittals and construction documentation. Apply and enforce company, client, and industry CAD standards, supporting consistency and quality across all deliverables. Coordinate closely with engineers, designers, and other disciplines to integrate electrical systems into overall project designs. Utilize and maintain CAD standards, templates, and detail libraries to streamline production and improve drafting efficiency. Identify design conflicts or inconsistencies and proactively propose practical, technically sound solutions. Perform quality control reviews of drawings to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements. Support design development through redline incorporation, field markups, and as-built documentation updates. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to CAD workflows, standards, and best practices. Manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. Provide guidance and technical support to junior drafters or team members as needed. Collaborate on projects and additional responsibilities as assigned. Support compliance with all company policies, safety standards, and project requirements.
