Position Purpose:
Qnity Electronics is hiring an Automation & Process Control Engineer at the Chambers Works plant site . The plant produces high performance perfluoroelastomer in support of the Kalrez business . The successful candidate will support both the Chambers Works site in Deepwater, NJ and the Tralee Park site in Newark, DE . The primary location will be at the Chambers Works site.
The role will be the key resource for maintaining the distributed control system, programmable logic controllers, instrumentation and analyzers .
Functional Responsibilities:
R esponsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Performing engineering assignments (production, maintenance, process, capital projects, etc.) involving the application of established instrumentation and process control technology and principles and often requiring coordination with other engineering and functional competencies to provide economical and expedient task implementation.
Providing day-to-day troubleshooting assistance for instrumentation and controls in a chemical manufacturing environment.
Leading the instrumentation and process controls functional responsibilities ( i.e. design, configuration, commissioning and startups) associated with capital and improvement projects.
Managing administrative and documentation requirements for tasks such as software revisions, downloading configuration changes, graphics development and modification, and implementing software changes of design.
Perform tuning of process controllers and audit performance of loop's as needed.
Leading or assisting troubleshooting efforts associated with the control systems to avoid or minimize production upsets and/or downtime.
Supporting Operations by assisting in training operators on how the control systems functions and in diagnosing operating problems.
Create and/or modify interlock test procedures and provide assistance in updating those procedures as required by design
Interfacing directly with vendor representatives for firmware/hardware upgrades.
Participating as needed in functional check-outs of new equipment. Ensuring repair of the Control System peripherals, and associated equipment in order to support production demand.
Configuring DCS and PLCs to perform manufacturing tasks safely.
Communicating with others to ensure successful checkout, start-up, and commissioning of projects involving DCS & PLCs.
Scheduling own daily activities to satisfy production requirements and accommodating requests from other organizations (Maintenance, Operations, Projects, etc.).
Maintain the plant data historian
Know-how /Experience:
- Experience championing and implement improvements in systems capabilities in a manufacturing plant environment (Chemical Plant and/or Six Sigma Preferred).
- Demonstrated expertise and understanding of distributed control system (DCS) architecture and demonstrated skills in configuring, documenting and troubleshooting DCS and PLC systems .
- Demonstrated knowledge of instrumentation systems and electrical infrastructure .
- Experience with process control and instrumentation tuning
- Demonstrated success in managing and leading both strategic long-term programs/projects as well as address short-term operational issues.
- Fundamental understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and High Hazard Processes is a plus.
- Experience with ABB distributed control systems.
EDUCATION:
- Preferred: B.S. in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of industrial process experience. Candidates with degrees in Process, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering will also be considered.

The Pay range for this role is $78,960.00 - $124,080.00 Annual
