JOB SUMMARY

This position will work with both CapEx projects and other miscellaneous needs of the various Martin Companies.

Reports to the Director of Engineering for execution of Capital Projects and Support. Works with various Plant Managers, Plant Operations, and Maintenance for projects and engineering support.

The Project Engineer 4 will need to apply principles, knowledge and practices of Engineering for timely identification, analysis and resolution of process related issues to ensure safe, reliable and cost-efficient plant operations. This would be performed at both new and existing facilities.

Responsible for acting as a Project Engineer and Project Manager on a selection of projects, both Maintenance, CapEx, and Growth Cap Ex, including ultimate responsibility for design, planning, execution, financial control, resource management, and coordination with Operations.

A person in this position shall be based in Kilgore, TX, and shall provide support to other Martin locations, such as Tampa, FL, Beaumont, TX, Arcadia, LA, and Plainview, TX. It is expected that this position shall include travel to these and other Martin sites, up to 50 %.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project engineering regarding new and existing facilities consisting API tanks, pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, instrumentation, power distribution, and foundations.
  • Complete layouts and preliminary engineering.
  • Design, estimate, and execute Capital projects. Generate Design Basis Document at the beginning of each project.
  • Develop proposals and detailed project estimates.
  • Complete detailed engineering
  • Solicit and evaluate competitive bids.
  • Supervise critical stages of construction
  • Participate or conduct routine project meetings.
  • Monitor and report project status, project timing, and project expenditures.
  • Provide technical support to the Martin organization wherever it is needed
  • Coordinate all personnel involved in the project and manage all expenses so as to ensure the efficient execution of the project, and achievement of all project objectives
  • Provide weekly project status updates on all current projects
  • Participate in 'What Ifs' and HAZOP studies, to include PHAs and PSSRs.
  • Actively participate in the Design Review process and lead the Project Post-Mortem.
  • Provide necessary support to guide the timing of plant shutdowns and turnarounds.
  • Present a professional image at all times to co-workers, clients and vendors and maintain a positive reputation of the Organization.
  • Actively seek and pursue development of skills needed to progress in the field of engineering and leadership/management.
  • Support and promote a pro-active HSSE culture within the Organization.
  • Support full compliance to HSSE related legislation & regulations, corporate requirements and management system(s) (i.e. operating policies and procedures).
  • Assist other Departments and other administrative personnel as necessary.
  • Travel- 10% to 50%

Job Requirements QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires the capability of logical thought and complex problem-solving, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, ability to work independently and with minimal supervision, proficiency with PC applications. (Excel, Word, AutoCad), and excellent communication skills, both written and oral.7+years experience in design, maintenance, and construction of industrial process units or tank farms.

Thorough knowledge of engineering principles and process equipment: Including best industry practices for chemical process plants and tank farms

Working knowledge of electrical power distribution systems and components

Working knowledge of instrumentation systems and components

Experience with foundation design

Engineering and Technology "Possess knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology for solving real-world problems.

Desirable knowledge to include, API 650 tanks, ANSI piping design, pumping system hydraulic design, instrumentation, and ASME.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
  • 5+ years' experience in design and construction of chemical process units or tank farms, bulk storage or relevant experience..
