Summer Internship - Development Engineering Technician Location: West Boylston, MA Job Type: Full-Time Summer Internship Schedule: Monday-Friday Pay: Competitive hourly rate based on experience About the Opportunity We are seeking a hands-on Development Engineering Technician Intern for a summer opportunity in West Boylston, MA. This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate with prior technical, manufacturing, electronics, mechanical, or engineering-related experience who wants real-world exposure in a product development and prototyping environment. This is not a watch and learn internship. You will be working directly with engineering teams to support prototype builds, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and equipment setup. What You'll Do In this role, you will assist engineers with a variety of hands-on technical projects, including: Building, testing, troubleshooting, and modifying electrical and mechanical prototype systems Assembling experimental circuitry, mechanical assemblies, and prototype products Supporting functional, operational, verification, and reliability testing Using hand tools, basic shop tools, and test equipment Assisting with test fixtures, lab setups, and engineering workstations Documenting work performed, test results, and project updates Helping maintain tools, equipment, parts, and prototyping areas Supporting engineers with updates to build and test procedures Recommending improvements to build methods, testing processes, and overall efficiency What We're Looking For Qualified candidates should have some prior hands-on technical experience and a strong interest in engineering, product development, electronics, or manufacturing. Required Experience/Skills: Prior experience with hands-on technical work, manufacturing, electronics, mechanical assembly, testing, or troubleshooting Ability to use basic hand tools and test equipment Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions Good problem-solving skills Comfortable working in a fast-paced engineering or lab environment Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Strong communication skills and willingness to take direction from engineers Preferred Experience: PCBA soldering experience IPC J-STD certification -Required for Level III Trade school, technical school, engineering technology, electronics, robotics, manufacturing, or related coursework Experience with MRP/ERP systems Experience reading technical documentation, drawings, or work instructions Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is reliable, mechanically or electronically inclined, detail-oriented, and eager to gain meaningful hands-on experience in a development engineering environment.
