Learn more at Viant Medical's website or on LinkedIn.About the site:Our Fort Wayne site specializes in precision CNC machining for medical devices, supporting the production of complex metal components with high accuracy and consistency.About the role:As an Engineering Manager, you will play a critical leadership role at our Fort Wayne site, overseeing a team of 14 engineers and technical specialists responsible for both new product introduction and ongoing production. You will drive execution across complex machining operations while shaping the strategic direction of engineering within the plant.This role combines hands-on engagement with manufacturing processes and high-level leadership, requiring a balance of technical expertise, customer-facing collaboration, and the ability to build and develop high-performing teams in a regulated environment.What you'll do:

Lead and develop a team of Manufacturing Engineers, NPI Program Managers, CNC Programmers, and Product Development EngineersDrive successful new product launches and ongoing production excellenceOwn new business quoting, including customer engagement and project evaluationChampion continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, and DMAIC methodologiesIdentify and implement new technologies to improve efficiency, quality, and throughputDevelop capital investment strategies aligned with future growth and capacity needsEnsure compliance with FDA, QMS, and regulatory standardsPartner cross-functionally across supply chain, quality, finance, and commercial teamsMentor and grow talent while fostering a strong, collaborative team cultureProvide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) input during product development and quoting phasesLead structured problem-solving and root cause analysis initiatives to address production and quality challenges

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field8+ years of manufacturing experience, including leadership experienceProven ability to lead teams and drive results in complex environmentsMedical device industry preferred; experience in metals machining or aerospace manufacturing is highly valuedStrong hands-on experience in CNC machining (milling, turning) is required

Preferred Experience:

Experience in orthopedic medical device manufacturing, particularly in machining of implants and surgical instrumentation, is highly preferredNew Product Introduction (NPI)Lean manufacturing implementationCapital planning and cost/quoting analysis
