Job Description
Our Client, a Automotive company, is looking for a Mechanical Engineer III for their Redford, MI location.
Responsibilities:
Individual to provide direct line/ maintenance engineering support for the Engines Assembly platform, as well as Axles Assembly processes as needed.
Work in the assembly areas will include both project based assignments as well as maintenance engineering support to production.
Requires technical and process ownership necessary to meet daily and future production demands.
Direct interface with line supervisors and hourly workforce ensuring adherence to work methods and production metrics.
Maintenance Engineering support for Engines Assembly processes, as well as Axles Assembly areas on an as-needed basis.
Review station level drawings and BOM's, developing recommended spare parts lists.
Development and implementation of entative Maintenance procedures on existing and future equipment.
Daily troubleshooting assistance for tooling and equipment breakdowns.
Develop and implement tooling for product changes.
Develop and implement assembly process methods.
Procure equipment (work with purchasing and vendors)
Equipment Certification (Gages, Torque Guns, Leak Testers)
Occasional Supervision (Skilled Trades)
Problem Solver
Technical Coach for Assemblers and Supervisors
Keep current of technological developments in the industry.
Participate in weekend production coverage rotation with fellow ME's.
Core Functions:
Daily Line Support: 70%
Project Work: 30%
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering Technology
Eight plus years of applicable experience in leu of degree
Min 3 years manufacturing experience in an assembly environment
High level of analytical ability where problems are complex
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
At least one year project management or supervisory experience (preferred)
Understanding of manufacturing processes
Knowledge of materials and methods of manufacture
Effective oral and written communication skills
Proficiency with AutoCad LT (preferred)
Familiar with pressing operations, including both Kistler and Promess hardware (preferred)
Experience programming and troubleshooting torque tooling (preferred)
Proficient with PC hardware and commercially available software (i.e. Windows, etc.)
General Knowledge:
Autocad
Virtual Machines
Systems: Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Electric, Lube
Assembly Experience
Union Shop Experience
Hands on experience
Comfortable working KUKA robots and Fanick
Fastening and tork tools
