Job Description This position offers an experienced Electrical Engineer the opportunity to take a lead role in the electrical department, supporting MEP and utilities electrical designs for building projects. Responsibilities
- Support and develop MEP and utilities electrical designs for building projects, with an emphasis on high and medium voltage systems and power distribution.
- Serve as Lead Project Engineer on projects involving electrical systems, ensuring technical quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Coordinate project recommendations with internal teams and external stakeholders, and work directly with clients to understand requirements and provide effective solutions.
- Apply engineering skills to prepare, review, and direct construction documentation, including drawings, specifications, studies, and other critical technical reports.
- Perform and review calculations of electrical capacity and loading for various building and utility projects.
- Contribute to the design of switchgear, transformers, protective relays, generator plants, and associated power distribution equipment.
- Utilize software tools such as SKM and AutoCAD to develop and refine electrical designs and documentation.
- Collaborate on lighting power and distribution design, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, and related building electrical systems.
- Mentor and provide leadership to junior engineers, offering guidance, technical support, and feedback to help them grow in their roles.
- Participate in projects that may include federal work, following relevant standards and documentation requirements.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Professional Engineering (PE) registration in Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years of previous electrical engineering work experience in building design, including MEP electrical design.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with medium and high voltage electrical systems.
- Strong understanding of power distribution, including switchgear, transformers, protective relays, and generator plants.
- Proficiency in SKM for power system analysis and studies.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD for electrical design and construction documentation.
- Ability to perform and review calculations of electrical capacity and loading for building projects.
- Experience preparing and directing construction documents, technical studies, and engineering reports.
- Ability to lead projects involving electrical systems and coordinate effectively with clients and project teams.
- Experience with electrical MEP design for utilities and building projects over 10+ years.
- Background in substation design and protection relay applications.
- Experience with transformer design and integration into building power systems.
- Familiarity with medium voltage and high voltage distribution equipment and configurations.
- Experience with generator plants and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems.
- Knowledge of lighting power distribution and lighting design within building electrical systems.
- Experience working on federal projects is preferred.
- Experience using Revit and AutoCAD Electrical for electrical design and documentation.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and support their technical and professional development.
- Strong communication and client coordination skills, with the ability to present recommendations clearly and professionally.
This is a Permanent position based out of WASHINGTON, DC.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $175000.00/yr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be
