Principal RF Design Engineer, Antennas
Responsibilities
A candidate in this position will be trained and expected to perform the following duties shortly after joining the antenna team:
Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team including mmWave antenna, electrical, RF component, and printed circuit board design engineers developing mmWave phased array prototype designs for emerging markets and applications
Model RF and mmWave components (mmWave transitions in printed circuit boards, connector matching networks, filters, tuning networks, and other structures) using AWR, CST, or HFSS
Design passive circuit components (power splitters/combiners, microstrip and stripline transmission lines, impedance transformers, etc) using AWR, CST, or HFSS
Collaborate with design teams to develop, manage, and finalize bill of material (BOM) lists and guide the design team on parts selection that support cost models and prototype schedules
Support test and troubleshooting of new mmWave phased array prototypes, including power supplies, control circuits, and RF/mmWave circuits
Perform power integrity analysis on mmWave printed circuit board phased array prototypes
Support hands on testing of RF and mmWave phased array antennas
A candidate in this position will be trained and expected to perform the following duties 1-2 years after joining the antenna team:
Develop, maintain, and update cascaded system design tools to track linear and nonlinear RF, IF, and DC performance of mmWave phased array antenna prototypes using Qorvo IC's (formerly Anokiwave).
Assume design responsibilities (cost, performance, schedule) for major subsystems of printed circuit based mmWave phased array prototype designs
Interact with PCB manufacturers and assembly shops to produce prototype arrays
Develop scripts and automation to improve design and testing efficiency.
Mentor and train junior staff to develop and expand their skills
Qualifications:
Prior design experience of RF/mmWave phased array antenna components
Experience using AWR, CST, and/or HFSS
Experience testing RF and mmWave circuits, coupons, and systems
Experience with scripting or programming with a language such as Python
Bachelor's degree (BSEE or equivalent) with a minimum of twelve+ years' experience
