Osborn Engineering is seeking a talented and driven Senior Electrical Transmission Engineer with 10+ Years’ experience for our Cleveland, Columbus, Michigan, or Pittsburgh office locations who will report to the Director of Power Engineering. The ideal candidate would have strong working knowledge of Electrical transmission design in the Consulting Engineering environment.

This position within the energy sector fuses technical expertise with innovative problem-solving skills to ensure the efficient and reliable transfer of electrical power from generation facilities to end-users. As a Power Transmission Engineer, you will be tasked with designing, maintaining, and improving transmission systems that form the backbone of our modern power grids. Your work will encompass a broad range of activities, including system planning, analysis, and the implementation of cutting-edge technologies to enhance grid stability and performance. Position Responsibilities

Complete project scope of work per discipline, project and client management, under direction of a Project Manager.

Design and develop high-voltage transmission lines and related infrastructure

Conduct load flow and stability studies to ensure system reliability

Perform site inspections and feasibility studies for new transmission projects

Collaborate with utility companies and other stakeholders to plan and execute projects

Analyze and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations

Integrate renewable energy sources into existing transmission networks

Develop and implement maintenance and upgrade plans for aging infrastructure

Monitor and troubleshoot transmission system performance

Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies

Provide technical support and mentorship to junior engineers

Utilize advanced software tools for simulation and modeling

Edit specifications to reflect the project requirements.

Coordinate with other disciplines for all Electrical design elements.

Prepare design deliverables for SD,DD,CD level documents.

Provide cost opinions for budgeting construction, and reviewing contractor change orders

Perform project construction administration including response to RFI’s and accurate review of submittals.

Attend meetings with clients, authorities having jurisdiction, and other professionals as projects require.

Work planning and managing the design process to the available hours in the work plan.

Familiar with utility specific details, components and drawing production

Job Requirements/Qualifications

10+ Years of experience in Electrical Power Transmission Design in Consulting Engineering.

Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Experience with SCADA systems.

Knowledge of renewable energy integration.

Knowledge of safety codes, utility standards and regulations (NESC, AXCE, IEEE).Familiarity with GIS mapping and data analysis.

Experience in utility-scale projects.

Experience analyzing tower structures (pole, lattice, guyed)

Working knowledge of design and analysis software such as AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP, Easypower, Microstation, PSS/E , PSCAD.

Understanding of regulatory compliance and permitting processes.

Knowledge of standard construction practices and the ability to work with contractors to address construction issues.

Coordinate with technical leads and senior engineers when specialized assistance is needed on design.

Ability to work and manage tasks on several projects concurrently.

Master’s degree in electrical engineering Preferred.

In-depth knowledge of electrical engineering principles

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

Familiarity with industry standards and safety protocols

Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities

Strong attention to detail

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

Proficiency with marking up drawings digitally and understanding of CAD application
