Duties
Help
Performs highly specialized technical work associated with analyzing, designing, developing, installing, repairing, fabricating, maintaining, modifying, or evaluating the most complex systems for which the FAA is responsible. Understands how assigned systems, components, and disciplines are integrated with other systems, components, and disciplines. Serves as an independent contributor and manages all drafting request packages utilizing the FAAs Drafting Tracker Software. Applies broad experience with established drafting software MicroStation.
Allocates resources to accomplish limited work activities within established schedules. Reviews drafting package submissions and estimates number of hours to complete by drafting team. Requests approval from Drafting Work Release point of contact (POC) for hour estimates before work can commence. Coordinates, supports resources and priorities for all drafting work associated with programs engineering projects. Regularly updates engineers of drafting status. Coordinates workload with other regions in ESA as needed.
Work is vital to the success of activities and projects that are critical to the safe and continual operation of the NAS. Contacts are both internal and external. Often is considered a key technical point of contact for assigned systems, programs, and projects. Supports maintenance, population, correction and workflow of the master drawing database data and associated electronic files through the ProjectWise interface. Manages drawing numbering requests. Annotates drawings as obsolete when instructed or when otherwise appropriate. Serves as the focal point for all production and reproduction drafting work.
Provides professional interface with A&E firms and other outside sources on matters concerning drafting deliverables. Ensures quality control standards are adhered to for all products in and out of drafting. Coordinates additional outside support as required. Tracks drafting production and services for drafting.
Provides drafting work packages to contracting drafting lead for work assignment. Ensures drafting work gets completed by Date Promised; otherwise, directs work to other drafters as needed. Returns completed drafting work to engineers and closes out drafting packages. Works with various Engineering Services platforms to clear as-built exceptions. Ensures drawings get signed by engineers and managers and uploaded into ProjectWise.
Receives general work assignments from a supervisor. Uses own judgment, experience, and knowledge to solve problems and complete assignments. Plans and organizes work to accomplish organizational objectives. Technical manuals, manufacturers instructions, FAA policies and procedures, and other publications provide guidance for some assignments. In many cases, guidance is inadequate or incomplete, requiring the technician to develop solutions based on knowledge of the discipline and past experience. May develop guidelines for the use of other technicians. Independently performs assignments. Completed work is reviewed to an extent consistent with the complexity of the assignment.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position at the FV-H level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-G, FG/GS-10/11. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
Specialized experience: Experience with established drafting software (i.e. MicroStation, AutoCAD). Skill in communicating effectively with individuals or groups.
Supervisor's Endorsement: A Supervisor's Endorsement form or memorandum is required for a competitive promotion. Applicants applying for a promotion must include a supervisor's endorsement or memorandum which must include the vacancy announcement number and supervisor's or acting supervisor's signature.
A supervisor's endorsement is not required for reassignment (same as ingrade) or downgrade
