Job Title: Firmware Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a Firmware Engineer to join our team in supporting the development and sustainment of high-fidelity patient simulation devices used in hospital and clinical training environments. These devices are complex systems that integrate embedded firmware, sensors, and software to emulate real-world medical scenarios. This hands-on role is positioned at the intersection of hardware and software, providing visibility across the entire system. You will be a key player, serving as the primary firmware resource on the team, ensuring system performance and contributing to future product evolution.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot firmware for embedded systems.
- Serve as the interface between hardware components (sensors) and software systems.
- Integrate and implement sensors within the broader system architecture.
- Support system sustainment, enhancements, and performance improvements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with software, electrical, and mechanical engineering teams.
- Utilize technologies including STM32 microcontrollers and CAN bus.
- Operate as the primary firmware engineer on the team, driving ownership and accountability.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in firmware development and Embedded C.
- Experience with STM32 microcontrollers and CAN bus communication.
- Ability to integrate and implement sensors within system architecture.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 4-8 years of experience in firmware or embedded systems development.
- U.S. work authorization required
- Willingness to travel for initial onboarding and training.
Work Environment
The position is on-site with standard working hours. The team includes approximately 50 engineers based in Montreal, encompassing both software and mechanical disciplines. The role offers hands-on involvement with the physical assembly of devices, situated between software and hardware domains. Employees will have exposure to both sustainment activities and future product evolution and design.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sarasota, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
