Senior Controls Engineer

Nesco Resource is seeking a Sr. Controls Engineer to join our client's team at their Poughkeepsie, NY location. SUMMARY In search of a Sr. Controls Engineer to support the design, development and implementation of automated controls systems for custom machinery and manufacturing equipment. This is a hands-on engineering role that combines technical leadership, project oversight and direct involvement in machine controls and automation. The ideal candidate will have experience working with complex electro-mechanical systems and industrial automation technologies in a manufacturing environment. This individual will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to develop reliable, efficient and innovative control solutions while supporting multiple projects simultaneously. RESPONSIBILITIES Design and develop electrical control systems for automated equipment Create electrical schematics and support overall controls architecture Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and related automation systems Support system integration, testing, commissioning, and production startup activities Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to support project objectives Maintain project documentation, schedules, and engineering records Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency and quality Ensure compliance with applicable safety and industry standards QUALIFICATIONS Experience with industrial automation, controls engineering, and custom equipment design Strong knowledge of PLC programming and electrical systems Experience with HMI development and automated machinery Familiarity with robotics and motion control systems is a plus Ability to read and create electrical schematics Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a team setting EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field preferred 6+ years of related controls engineering or automation experience; must have demonstrated PLC & HMI programming experience ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Direct hire with benefits 1st shift, Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:15pm (45 minute lunch) Competitive compensation and benefits package Opportunity to work on advanced manufacturing and automation projects Collaborative, team-oriented engineering environment Long-term career growth potential within a stable organization Nesco Resource provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
