OverviewWe are seeking a senior transportation leader with strong technical expertise in roadway, highway, and traffic engineering and a proven ability to influence regional transportation programs. This individual will guide complex design initiatives, lead multidisciplinary teams, and shape client strategy across multiple Midwest and Great Lakes markets. The role includes responsibility for program level delivery, client relationship development, and regional growth planning. Remote work flexibility is available, with travel required to support client engagements, strategic pursuits, and project oversight.Key ResponsibilitiesProgram and Project Leadership* Lead high profile roadway, highway, bridge, and multimodal design programs across the region. * Oversee program scopes, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and performance metrics. * Provide technical direction and strategic oversight for complex design efforts. * Manage multiple concurrent projects and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.Team Leadership and Development* Mentor and guide engineers and project managers to support both technical competency and leadership growth. * Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across multiple offices and remote environments. * Support resource forecasting, staffing plans, and workload balancing.Quality Management* Lead Quality Control and Quality Assurance for major deliverables within the regional portfolio. * Establish and maintain high standards for technical precision and design efficiency.Client and Market Development* Cultivate and expand relationships with state and regional transportation agencies, municipalities, and public sector partners. * Drive pursuit strategy, proposal development, client presentations, and long term account planning. * Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on transportation planning, engineering, and program delivery. * Represent the organization at industry conferences, professional societies, and regional transportation committees.Strategic and Regional Growth* Support market strategy across the Midwest and Great Lakes region, including identification of emerging opportunities and service line expansion. * Contribute to internal business planning and operational strategy. * Strengthen the firm's presence in key markets through industry participation and thought leadership.Minimum QualificationsEducation and Credentials* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline. * Professional Engineer (PE) license.Experience* Fifteen or more years of progressive experience in transportation engineering, design leadership, and client management. * Extensive background in roadway and traffic engineering, PS and E development, and delivery of complex transportation projects. * Proven experience directing scopes, schedules, budgets, and performance for large transportation programs. * Strong history of collaboration with public agencies including state DOTs, counties, and municipalities.Technical and Professional Competencies* Proficiency with MicroStation, GeoPAK, and modern transportation design tools. * Familiarity with platforms such as OpenRoads Designer and MS Project. * Strong communication, networking, and relationship building skills. * Ability to lead pursuit strategies and contribute to high quality proposals. * Ability to work effectively in a remote environment and travel as needed.Preferred Qualifications* Experience working with transportation agencies and municipalities throughout the Midwest and Great Lakes region. * Demonstrated understanding of regional DOT specifications, processes, and project development procedures. * Track record of securing new work and driving regional growth initiatives.
