Controls EngineerLocation: Onsite in Medina, OHSalary: $80-130k DOEPosition OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to design, program, and commission industrial control systems for manufacturing and process automation projects. The ideal candidate will develop control panel designs, PLC and HMI programs, and detailed electrical documentation while ensuring compliance with NEC and UL standards. You will work closely with project teams, vendors, and field technicians to deliver reliable, safe, and maintainable control solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and schematics using AutoCAD Electrical and SolidWorks Electrical.Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs with Allen Bradley/ControlLogix, Rockwell, or Siemens.Implement and maintain industrial communications including Ethernet/IP, Modbus, and other fieldbus protocols.Ensure designs meet NEC and UL standards (including UL508A) and collaborate with electrical inspectors and certification bodies as needed.Prepare and maintain bill of materials (BOM), panel build instructions, and installation documentation for manufacturing and field teams.Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers using SolidWorks, SolidWorks Electrical, and AutoCAD to integrate controls into overall equipment design.Provide technical support to sales, project management, and customers during project lifecycle, including cost estimation and change management.Optimize control strategies for reliability, safety, and ease of maintenance; implement continuous improvement and standardization across projects.QualificationsBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related discipline.3+ years of experience in industrial controls, automation, or electrical panel design (adjustable depending on seniority level).Proven experience with PLCs and HMIs, Allen-Bradley (ControlLogix/CompactLogix), Rockwell software, and Siemens platforms.Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols including Modbus and Ethernet/IP.Proficiency in electrical CAD tools including AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks, and SolidWorks Electrical for schematic capture and panel layout.Experience with panel design, wiring practices, and familiarity with NEC and UL standards (UL508A preferred).Understanding of control system architecture, I/O selection, grounding, surge protection, and thermal management in enclosures.Ability to perform testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting in the field; comfortable traveling to customer sites as required.Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills; capable of working independently and as part of a cross-functional team.BenefitsMedical, dental, and vision insurancePaid time off401k with company match
