Job Title: Instrumentation and Controls Engineer
Job Description
As an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer, you will prepare Engineering Change Packages, including wiring diagrams and schematics, P&IDs, logic diagrams, and instrument hookups for plant modification packages, focusing on digital upgrades. Your role will involve preparing specifications for controlling plant process and auxiliary systems, and reviewing logic diagrams and system functional descriptions for implementing system control logic into plant control systems. You will evaluate and specify pressure, temperature, flow, and level process instrumentation and perform engineering calculations related to nuclear plants, such as instrument set-points and electrical loading changes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review engineering diagrams and system descriptions for plant modifications.
- Specify and evaluate process instrumentation for pressure, temperature, flow, and level.
- Perform engineering calculations for nuclear plant operations.
- Support multiple projects and coordinate activities with clients, contractors, vendors, and project team members.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Controls Engineering from an accredited 4-year university.
- 5+ years of experience in instrumentation and controls.
- 3 years of experience related to the design of operating nuclear power plants in the U.S.
- Strong knowledge of engineering design and analysis.
- Familiarity with nuclear regulations and industry standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in design, operations, or field service/support for power plants or heavy industrial facilities.
- Experience leading a team of engineers and technicians, and training/mentoring junior staff.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to obtain unescorted access to nuclear plants and other facilities.
- Familiarity with digital control upgrades, including Ovation, Honeywell, and Schneider replacements.
Work Environment
This position offers an East Coast remote opportunity, with the flexibility for candidates to work 100% remotely. However, candidates who can travel to North Carolina or New Jersey are preferred. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $77.00/hr.
