Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Independently design and develop scanning methods with multiple manufacturing and supplier partners to provide accurate physical measures of biological cells for Cellens clinical diagnostic test product line. (15%)
- Conduct verification and validation activities on multiple patient samples to meet product design input requirements and CLIA regulatory standards. (15%)
- Carry out in-depth calibration experiment to ensure software and firmware designs of multiple new clinical AFM machines are well-calibrated, optimized and ready for scale-up. (10%)
- Establish new metrics to maintain consistency for AFM probe changes to maintain consistency, repeatability and reproducibility of the data. (5%)
- Help design the UI/UX of the Cellens Cloud website infrastructure, creating intuitive navigation, streamlined user flows, and a visually cohesive interface tailored to scientific and data-driven applications. (5%)
- Analyze experimental data, identifying experimental trends and technological improvements to producing clear clinical reports. (10%)
- Maintain detailed records of laboratory experiments and protocols, identify problems and recommend corrective actions, and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support clinical research and the development of new cancer diagnostics tests. (10%)
- Collaborate with research scientists across disciplines biology, physics, data science and quality regulatory to ensure product integration. (5%)
- Assist in preparing materials and report findings at internal and external team meetings, contributing to study reports, abstracts, posters, and peer-reviewed manuscripts. (10%)
- Troubleshoot and address issues with new clinical AFM machines (instrumentation) as they arise. (5%)
- Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians or researchers in techniques. (10%)

Requirements: Bachelors degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering or related field and one year of experience in Atomic Force Microscopy to support clinical operations, product design and development.

Special Requirements: Experience in each of the following specialized skills:

1. Basic knowledge of 3D modeling software, AFM data acquisition software, Python and other data analysis software
2. Understanding of basic optimization techniques to improve designs, processes, or system performance
3. Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems and equipment
4. Comfortable using hand tools and basic lab/shop equipment
5. Know how to operate hand tools, basic lab/shop equipment and machines
6. Understanding of materials, tolerances, and basic manufacturing processes
7. Capable of conducting experiments and clearly documenting test procedures and results
8. Experience working with cross-functional teams (e.g., electrical, software, or manufacturing)
9. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
10. Capable of following safety procedures and maintaining a clean workspace
