Position Summary:
Arkansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a clinical assistant or associate professor in Small Animal Urgent Care. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position incorporates clinical work (24 weeks/year) with workplace-based year 4 student training in urgent care/emergency, teaching of year 1-3 students in clinical skills and urgent/emergency care. Service (10%) is also expected. Scholarly activity appointment is negotiable.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Teach year 1-3 DVM students the principles and practice of urgent care and emergency medicine in the classroom, clinical skills laboratory
Teach year 4 DVM students urgent care and emergency medicine in clinical practice
Provide excellent patient care and clinical service, including communication with clients and referring veterinarians
Contribute to competency-based curriculum development with a focus on small animal emergency medicine and urgent care across years 1-4 of the DVM curriculum
Contribute to objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs) and other skills-based assessments
Contribute to college and university committees and/or serve on regional or national professional organizations
Mentor and advise DVM students
+/- Contribute to scholarly endeavors through collaborative educational research and/or educational innovations
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to work collaboratively with other faculty and staff.
Ability to communicate effectively across CVM stakeholders.
Ability to prioritize tasks, deliver results in a timely manner, and function independently.
General Days/Hours:
Variable hours (approximately 4 pm-12 am when on clinical duty, M-Th, ~24 weeks per year; 8 am-5 pm M-F when not on clinic duty)
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance

DVM or equivalent
