Principal Mechanical Engineer (Devens, MA)

Lead the design, analysis, and development of complex electro-mechanical systems and components, including thermal, structural, and electromagnetic analysis, prototype development, technical documentation.
Specific duties include:
Perform thermal, structural, and electromagnetic analysis using hand calculations and finite element method;
Develop design notes, technical specifications, assembly procedures and documentation necessary to manufacture and install the SPARC ICAN antennas;
Support procurement in the preparation and execution of manufacturing contracts;
Provide engineering expertise and insight to guide high-risk engineering decisions;
Mentor junior engineers in mechanical design and analysis;
Complete and assist in the completion of part and assembly drawings using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T); and
Develop prototype hardware and rapidly iterate designs to inform production development.

Minimum Requirements:
A Bachelors degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field, plus 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer or similar role within a manufacturing organization.
Experience must include the following:
1) 5 years of experience with industrial automation, special machinery, robotic assembly lines, robotic welding, special equipment testing, New Product Development (NPD), Research and Development (R&D), design for prototype, and mass production.
2) 5 years of experience engineering and designing complex electro-mechanical systems, including system design, device integration, functional testing, and product commissioning.
3) 5 years of experience utilizing engineering tools including Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and MATLAB for modeling, simulation, and analysis.
4) 5 years of experience applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to complex, multi-component engineering drawings.
