Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer II is responsible for
leading quality improvement initiatives and driving resolution of complex product and process issues that directly impact product performance and customer satisfaction. This role applies advanced problem-solving techniques, owns key quality system processes, and partners cross-functionally to improve quality metrics and overall operational performance.
This position is part of the Quality Systems Department located in Ames, Iowa, and will be on-site.
In this role, a typical day will look like:
Lead root cause investigations for customer complaints and internal quality issues using statistical tools (DOE, Gage R&R, Six Sigma methodologies)
Drive product and process validation activities, including material testing and machine validation
Maintain and manage Agile PLM change processes as a change analyst
Support new product development and sourcing activities through quality validation and statistical analysis
Own quality system processes, including CAPA, SCAR, document control, internal audits, and training
Partner cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to improve performance against quality metrics
The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Sciences, or a related technical field
Minimum 3+ years of experience in quality systems or engineering roles in a manufacturing environment
Experience working within Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 13485, or FDA 21 CFR 820)
Demonstrated experience leading root cause investigations and quality improvement initiatives
Experience with Agile PLM or similar product lifecycle management systems

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associates position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
The compensation range for this role is $68,000 - $84,000 USD per year.We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
