Assistant Project Manager
Job Description

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports Project Managers in planning, coordinating, and executing luxury residential and construction projects from pre-construction through completion. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional seeking hands-on experience in high-end construction within a collaborative, quality-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing multiple residential construction projects simultaneously.
  • Support scheduling, budgeting, and procurement processes.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, architects, and clients.
  • Help ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Maintain project documentation including contracts, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
  • Track project progress, costs, and timelines.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, notes, and status reports.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress and quality of workmanship.
  • Assist in resolving field issues and coordinating with site supervisors.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and building codes.
  • Support communication between clients, architects, and internal teams.
  • Help maintain strong client relationships through responsiveness and professionalism.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelors Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (preferred).
  • 13 years of experience in construction or project coordination (residential experience preferred).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with construction/project management software is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Exposure to high-end custom residential construction.
  • Familiarity with budgeting, estimating, and scheduling tools.
  • Experience working with architects and design teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
  • Proactive and eager to learn.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.
Work Environment

The work environment includes a split time between the office in Fairfield (Southport) and site visits throughout Fairfield County to monitor progress and quality of workmanship. The company offers a collaborative, craftsmanship-focused culture with mentorship from experienced builders and project managers. APMs work as true co-managers, taking on major scopes traditionally reserved for full Project Managers, providing accelerated exposure and real responsibility with a clear path to becoming a Project Manager.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Westport, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52.89 - $60.10/hr.
