Summary Electrical District No. 2 (ED2) is looking for an Engineering Intern who is actively working toward a degree in engineering or a discipline related to the electric utility industry. This internship provides practical experience in the electric utility industry, including exposure to engineering, operations, system planning, and field support that help ED2 deliver safe, reliable service. The Engineering Intern will support ED2 staff with research, technical analysis, data management, mapping, reporting, and other duties related to utility engineering and operations. This will be a temporary employment position with ED2. Work hours will depend on department needs and the intern's availability, with part-time or full-time schedules available during the school year and summer. The intern will work scheduled hours based on departmental needs, ranging from a minimum of 15 hours to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Key Responsibilities Assist engineering and operations staff with data collection, analysis, and documentation. Review electrical system data, maps, service requests, and construction records. Organize project files, spreadsheets, and technical reports. Participate in field visits, job observations, and team meetings as assigned. Help prepare reports, presentations, and internal summaries. Support process improvement efforts and administrative tasks within the Engineering or Operations departments. Perform other related duties as assigned in support of ED2 operations and special projects. Qualifications for Success Licensed to drive in the State of Arizona, and able to work in the United States. Interest in engineering, utilities, infrastructure, or public service. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Eagerness to learn, ask questions, and follow guidance from experienced staff. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage time, stay organized, and produce accurate work. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Education A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required. Current enrollment in, or documented completion from, an accredited college program in engineering, engineering technology, construction management, drafting, GIS, or a related field is preferred. Experience Experience with Microsoft Excel, mapping tools, technical writing, data analysis, or utility-related coursework is preferred but not required.
