This position provides hands-on experience developing, improving, and qualifying welding methods while working directly on the production floor. You will learn to apply industry codes, troubleshoot real-world challenges, and progressively take ownership of welding processes that directly impact product quality, performance, and safety. Principle Responsibilities: Assist in developing, qualifying, and documenting welding procedures (WPS, PQR) in accordance with ASME, AWS, and internal standards Support welding operations including GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, and orbital welding processes Work closely with production teams to troubleshoot weld defects and improve process consistency Participate in root cause investigations and corrective actions for weld-related issues Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives (5S, waste elimination, workflow optimization) Support weld inspections and NDE activities (RT, UT, PT, VT) in collaboration with Quality Learn and apply welding codes, standards, and metallurgy fundamentals in a production environment Assist in developing work instructions, weld maps, and standard operating procedures Support welder training, testing, and qualification activities Participate in tooling, fixturing, and process improvement projects to enhance safety and efficiency Contribute to new product introduction (NPI) activities with a focus on manufacturability and weld design Spend significant time on the shop floor gaining hands-on experience and building process knowledge Promote a strong safety culture related to welding hazards, hot work, and associated risks. Support overall site objectives related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Growth. Support other tasks as requested by manager Qualifications / Experience Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Welding/Joining Engineering. 0-2 years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment (internships acceptable). Knowledge of welding processes, metallurgy, and weld inspection techniques. Familiarity with applicable welding codes and standards (ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, etc.). Experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD preferred) is a plus. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills. Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and welding symbols. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Physical Demands Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted, bend stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run. Must be a legal resident of the United States with reliable transportation. Must be able to work in both shop and office environments. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
