Results Engineering Supervisor

Position Summary

The Results Engineering Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership along with daily oversight, direction, and guidance of the Results personnel in the Engineering Department at the Milton R. Young Station. The position provides oversight for the plant results program and oversees the management of the plant PI performance monitoring system. In addition, the Results Engineering Supervisor reviews plant systems to improve efficiency, reliability, availability and load factor while also providing technical expertise in problem areas.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Departmental Supervisory
    1. Responsible for supporting their assigned areas’ short- and long-term initiatives
    2. Provides support to the development of employees within their assigned area(s)
    3. Assists with goals, monitors work, and helps evaluates results to ensure that departmental and organizational objectives and operating requirements are met and are in line with the needs and mission of the organization
    4. Oversee assigned area(s) and employees for budgeting, expense accounting, and payroll processes
    5. Oversight for Station Results and Performance Program
      1. Oversee the management of the plant PI performance monitoring system
      2. Maximize the efficiency of the plant by improving reliability, performance and operation
      3. Establish and maintain a written plant results (performance) program
      4. Lead Results Engineering in the analysis of plant data
      5. Recommend and implement plant efficiency-producing strategies
      6. Coordinate the results/performance training of new engineers
      7. Engineering Analysis
        1. Perform comprehensive studies of problem areas in plant
        2. Identify areas for improvement that reduce total cost of ownership
        3. Evaluate and test plant equipment
        4. Review plant systems to improve efficiency, reliability, availability and load factor
        5. Project Management
          1. Coordinate with the Project Engineering Supervisor and Plant Engineering Superintendent to identify and budget for justified capital and O&M projects
          2. Coordinate with the Project Engineering Supervisor and Plant Engineering Superintendent to identify results-oriented outage tasks
          3. Coordinate with the Project Engineering Supervisor and Plant Engineering Superintendent to identify and assign project managers
          4. Manage station efficiency improvement projects, delegating to Results staff as required
          5. Operations and Maintenance Support
            1. Provide technical expertise in areas causing problems to Plant Operations and Maintenance
            2. Provide guidance to other plant departments on the efficient operation of equipment
            3. Provide assistance under emergency conditions for repair of vital equipment
            4. Administrative Support
              1. Review and approve the station monthly NERC Generating Availability Data System (GADS) data
              2. Review and approve the station monthly Operating and Performance Reports
              3. Leadership and Direction for Safety and Training
                1. Oversee the technical and operational training needs on capital and O&M projects and initiate appropriate action
                2. Oversee the completion of safety inspections and reporting of incidents in a timely and accurate manner

                  Job Qualification Standards

                  Education and Training

                  • Position requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
                  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.

                  Experience

                  • Minimum of five years of progressively more responsible technical and administrative experience in project planning, and operation and maintenance of a steam electric generating plant.
                  • Experience in managing and supervising power plant projects, tracking budgets, and working with a variety of people is essential.

                  Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed to an office environment indoors and will travel outdoors to multiple locations dependent on work.
