This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. This temporary position is located at 127 Cardinal Drive, Wilmington - New Hanover County, with the Department of Environmental Quality.

Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $32.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants.

This position will primarily work in the Express Post Construction State Stormwater Program to perform professional engineering work by reviewing express requests and applications to evaluate projects for compliance and eligibility.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical assistance is to be provided to the applicants, consultants, regulated community, and general public on projects and inquiries through meetings, phone calls, and written communication.
• Coordination with internal staff, federal, state, local agencies, and diverse stakeholder groups may be required during the application review process.

Management Preferences:

• Manage multiple priorities,

• Should be detail oriented,
• Should have an understanding of hydrology, soils, and engineering concepts and calculations.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualification May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
