Incumbent performs maintenance of the FM Boeing 737-800 and Airbus 330/320 convertible full flight (Level D) simulors. Ensures flight simulor systems are in operionally certified condition. FS liaison for contract maintenance activities, ensuring they are performed to established standards in accordance withl4 CFR Part 60. Performs highly specialized technical expertise associed with analyzing, designing, developing, installing, repairing, fabricing, maintaining, modifying and/or evaluing highly complex simulion modeling and flight simulor aerodynamic and avionics systems. Applies broad experience and advanced technical knowledge on flight simulor systems components, disciplines, and integrion with multiple flight simulors.
Incumbent performs and processes hardware and software diagnostic tests on flight simulors to ensure proper function or affect repairs and re-verify proper operion of the malfunctioning system. Utilizes vendor documention (including, but not limited to, blueprints, schemic diagrams. and program flow diagrams) to loce, isole, and repair or replace malfunctioning components. Uses software utility programs and installed diagnostic equipment in fault detection and isolion. Reviews and documents preventive and corrective maintenance on flight simulor aerodynamic and avionics systems and ensures repair of defective subsystems, assemblies, and circuit cards. Performs all necessary calibrions and/or alignments prior to placing any failed device into service to ensure th the flight simulors continue to opere in accordance within their design specificions. Maintains and tracks night simulor component documention, calogs and replacement and/or repairing logistical requirements
Incumbent oversees and performs periodic tests to certify th the FAA Boeing 737-800 and Airbus 330/320 convertible full flight (Level D) simulors perform in accordance with their respective Approval Test Guide and assist the Nional Simulor Evaluion Team with annual recurrent certificion/qualificion. Ensures all simulor discrepancies are
documented, evalued for corrective actions, tracked and completed.
Incumbent provides specialized flight simulor technical expertise for Research, Engineering and Development (R.E&D) projects by supervising and performing hardware and software modificions as directed. Incumbent also ensures currency of the visual dabase library models and assists in the creion of new models and/or modificions to existing ones to support R.E&D projects. Additionally, the incumbent maintains all system source code documention in current configurions and performs schemic updes, caloging new software listings and hardware and software modificions.
Incumbent serves as an independent contributor, a contributing specialist on large work activities, or as a team leader for single or small work activities. May provide formal instruction to other technicians performs highly specialized technical work associed with analyzing, designing, developing, installing, repairing, fabricing, maintaining, modifying or evaluing the most complex systems for which the FAA is responsible. Applies broad experience and advanced technical knowledge of assigned disciplines and specialties. Understands how assigned systems, components, and disciplines are integred with other systems, components, and disciplines.
Incumbent serves as the Deputy Program Manager for Flight Start Capital Investment Program (CIP). This multi-million dollar, ongoing CIP program guarantees the continued modernizion of the organizion's Airbus and Boeing full motion flight simulors to meet the requirements of complex NAS initiives for years to come. May be called upon to communice FAA positions on policies and procedures internally and externally.
