DESCRIPTION:

As Sr. Project Manager, R&D at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will lead strategic product development, cost optimization, and technology transfer initiatives. This role combines technical expertise with strong project management capabilities to drive innovation and operational excellence. You will manage complex, cross-functional projects while partnering closely with the laboratory, business, operations, quality, regulatory, supply chain, and commercial teams to ensure successful project execution aligned with our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.

The successful candidate will excel at coordinating diverse stakeholders, driving project execution, managing competing priorities, and communicating effectively across all levels of the organization.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Advanced Degree plus 6 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of experience in technical project management, with demonstrated expertise in product development and cost optimization
  • Preferred Fields of Study: Engineering or related scientific field
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification desirable
  • Demonstrated success leading complex cross-functional projects in a matrixed environment
  • Strong experience coordinating and influencing cross-functional teams without direct authority
  • Demonstrated success delivering significant cost savings through VAVE initiatives and process improvements
  • Strong technical knowledge of product development lifecycle, gate review processes, and regulatory requirements
  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools (SDLC, Agile, MS Project, Jira)
  • Expertise in developing and implementing technical documentation, including DVPs, FMEAs, and technical specifications

  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate project status, risks, and priorities effectively
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Effective collaboration skills across engineering, operations, quality, and commercial functions
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including executive-level updates
  • Experience with GMP/cGMP compliance and quality management systems
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex project portfolios in a fast-paced environment

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Minnesota is $140,000.00$161,825.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
